Seasonal floristry

We are passionate about local, seasonal, and sustainable flowers and are committed to minimizing negative impacts to our environment. We strive to care for our land and the ecosystem that flourishes here. We grow flowers, herbs, berries, nuts, fruits, and foliage for floral design, but we also try to grow as many native plants as we can to support pollinators, insects, migratory birds, and other flora and fauna that share our farm. We offer a full range of floristry services, from wedding design to floral design workshops. We also love sharing our flowers with local hospitals and families who need a little pick-me-up, because flowers lift spirits, bring good cheer, and speed healing.

Wedding designs

We specialize in full wedding and event designs using seasonal flowers, herbs, berries, nuts, fruits, and foliage from our own gardens, and woodland treasures from our 50+ acre woods. We are also happy to help guide your DIY floral designs for your wedding. Floral arrangements can have an impact on the final look of your special event. Seasonal floral arrangements memorialize the season of your special day, giving your day the timelessness that you will look back on fondly regardless of floral trends.

Why local flowers?

Locally grown flowers are superior to foreign imports in many ways. Aside from the numerous well-documented environmental and humanitarian benefits, locally grown flowers last longer and are more fragrant and vibrant. In addition, arrangements made with locally grown flowers are timeless and unique to the season and region of your special day.

We love to work with local flowers because they provide an ever-changing and unpredictable platform that results in a unique look to every event.

FLORAL DESIGN SERVICES

Meet your designer

Christa’s life-long love of gardening and flower horticulture is reflected in her artistic flower arranging. In Christa’s gardens, you will experience the scents, textures, and colors of the living world and her partnership with the flora and fauna around her. Working with Mother Nature, Christa lets plants be where they thrive. A good deal of careful observation, patience, and planning went into designing her gardens. Her approach to gardening is also reflected in her floral design work. Her arrangements are carefree, never forced. She derives her inspiration from the natural bends, shapes, and texture of her elements. For Christa, flower arranging is an artistic expression that brings joy, especially when shared with family and friends.

Christa was a member of the Altar Guild at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, VA. She is a member of the All Hallows Guild at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, CO, the Slow Flowers Society, and the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers.

What guests are saying

“Upon arriving at Cedarmere Farm for our first visit with Christa, we immediately knew she was going to bring great vision and detail to our wedding. The Farm is incredibly picturesque with sweeping views of the mountains, pond, and Christa’s wonderful wildflower garden—a beautiful aesthetic that carries over to Christa’s work. One of the highlights of working with Christa was that most things were actually grown at the Farm. Being able to see many of the flowers and greenery on the property really helped with the process of making decisions for our ceremony. Christa has a gift for taking our ideas and creating something unique and personal. If you are looking for a bespoke, full-service florist, make sure to work with Christa and Cedarmere Farm.”

“Christa helped to plan and executed a total transformation of my daughter’s camp wedding this past fall. This was not an easy task as there were three different sites at camp that required Christa’s talent. She listened intently to my daughter and her fiancé’s vision for their wedding and incorporated all their details into the flowers and installations. Christa’s use of natural materials and her beautiful dahlias resulted in a total transformation of a dining hall and an open-air pavilion. Her bouquets and wedding arch were thoughtfully created and incorporated all the colors my daughter had wished for. Christa’s attention to detail is unparalleled. The results of her talent and hard work were simply stunning. I cannot recommend Christa and Cedarmere Farm more highly. You will not be disappointed!”
